President Ben Kemker introduces Mary Ann Lucas as tonight’s speaker.
Leave it to Mary Ann to find this colorful character, born William Alexander Anderson Wallace in 1817 in Lexington, Virginia. He achieved his fame in Texas during the state’s struggle for independence from Mexico. “Big Foot Wallace” survival to the age of 82 is a bit miraculous considering his desire to place himself in dangerous encounters time and time again. He is the inspiration for the American rugged frontiersman. His numerous escapades have evolved into our Lonesome Dove character. What an American Scotsman!!! Mary Ann invites all to the Heritage Tent at Clanjamfry to learn more about our Scottish-American ancestors whose contributions shaped our country and earned our freedom and democracy.
Caleb Anderson drew the name of John Schultz to win the bag of ‘Edinburgh’ onions.
Can that ever happen again????? Two young brothers drawing the name of a husband and wife to win door prizes!!!!!!
The program for July’s meeting will be “Scottish Presence in the Holy Land” by John Simmons.
