Program – Contemporary Jacobites

Dr. John Simmons gave a interesting talk on the history of the Jacobites and dealt especially with current day Jacobites. Their original cause was to bring the Stuarts back to the throne. He also notes several websites that discuss who should be the current king or ruler and how these people traced their lineage over the years back to King James. The program culminated in a song by the Caledonian Chorale, “Ye Jacobites by Name”. The audience joined them on “Amazing Grace”.

* Mary Ann said that the Scotland 101 series has been well received and Tapes/DVDs are available to borrow. Future programs include Culture and Fine Arts of Scotland (September), Scottish Haunts (October), Culture of Scotland (November), Christmas Party (December), and Tartans and Attire (January), ending in Burns Nicht.
